“Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life; let those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me. Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them on. Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.” (Psalm 35:4-6)

The way of the Lord makes for a stark contrast against the way of the wicked. Live in such a way that your deeds are consistent with the way of the Lord. Yes, you will slip up, but the intent is made complete by grace. It is the direction of the path, not the rocks that are encountered along the way. The way of the wicked is slippery and continually fails. The way of the Lord is good and leads to righteousness.

Lord, I have set my course with You and desire that You be the One who leads the way. I see around me those who falter and fail. Yes, I will sin and slip up, but keep the bearing of my course set upon You who alone can lead me through the morass of this life. Guide me in Your way that I would walk in it and hold me to Your never-failing truth which You have revealed for us all.

Lord Jesus, I cannot do this without You. You are the way, the truth and the life. Help me, I pray, to see in You the hope of an eternal future so that I would keep on the narrow path and walk in Your way. By Your grace, help me to overcome the obstacles that will come along, knowing that in You alone is there hope and a future. May I not be humiliated in the humility You lead me to walk in. Amen.
