“If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.”  (1 John 2:29)

The righteousness of Christ is what we wear.  Unless we take on His righteousness, anything we would call our own are worthless rags unworthy of consideration.  It is Christ alone who is the author and finisher of our faith.  We do not need to figure it out.  We do not need to know all things.  We need the righteousness that only Christ can and does provide through His death and resurrection.

Lord Jesus, help me to see that You are my all in all and that apart from You I can do nothing.  You are the Savior who has come to save.  Lead me in the way of truth that You have established that I may walk in the way in which You lead that I may live the life to which You have called me.  Guide me, Savior, in the Word of eternal life that You have spoken and that You live.

Lord Jesus, apart from You, I can do nothing.  You have come that as many as would trust in You alone will not be disappointed, but live according to the will of the Father.  Help me, I pray to live today and every day in Your never failing promises that I may truly abide in You and Your righteousness and live the will of the Father through my life.  Keep me close to You, and help me to keep You close to me.  Amen.

“Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.”  (1 John 2:28)

The Lord Jesus will return.  Many who have gone astray will stand in shame, knowing that they have not listened to the voice of the Master.  But it need not be so with You.  Stand firm and receive the Word of the Lord and be guided by His eternal presence.  Know that in the Lord, there is hope and truth, but that apart from Him, there is judgement and condemnation.

Lord, my salvation is assured in You.  You have given the words of eternal life.  Lead me, O Lord, to know that what You speak is true and that I may hope in You always.  Keep me from the wiles of the wicked one that I may not be led astray and help me see that in You I can be the person You have created me to be.  You come to me every day.  Help me to receive you and listen to what You say.

Lord Jesus, speak to me that I may speak the love of the Father You have shown.  Guide me in Your eternal way that I may in You abide alone.  Keep me from the deceiving heart and lead me in Your kingdom to do my part.  You are the Savior, no other can do, what You alone have promised that those You call may be presented true to the Father for His eternal glory.  Keep me O Lord in Your arms of mercy.  Amen.

“As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.”  (1 John 2:27)

Turn to the Lord and to His Holy Spirit and learn to listen.  The Holy Spirit will give you understanding so that you will know the voice of Jesus when you hear it.  The sheep know His voice, and He knows the sheep.  Do not think anyone else will be able to give you the words, although the Lord uses many to speak His Word.  It is the Lord Himself who leads those who are His.

Lord, this sounds so simple, but I make it so complex.  Help me Lord to see that You are giving instruction every day.  Help me to know Your voice so that I hear it when You speak.  Help me to hear Your voice so that I willingly take in what You are saying.  Lead me, O Lord, for You give the words of eternal life to those who are yours.  Help me to always abide in You and You in me.

Lord Jesus, You have given simple instructions and guided those who are Yours throughout the ages.  Help me, I pray, to live into this life of faith that You have given me that I may truly abide in You and You in me.  Open my ears to hear and my heart to receive.  Lead me O Lord to live according to the purposes of the Father’s heart that I may, through Your salvation, be one of Yours.  Amen.

“These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.”  (1 John 2:26)

Throughout the ages, there are those who come along, deceiving ones who will not listen to the Lord.  It is the Lord alone who saves, not we ourselves.  Listen to the full counsel of the Lord, not just the parts you want to hear.  It is not about how you look, but about what the Lord is doing.  Those who are in Him know His love, for themselves and for others.  Our God is a God of love.

Lord, help me to see simply that I must rely upon You alone, not myself, or others.  There are those whom You will send and those whom the devil will send.  Help me know Your voice when You speak that I may listen to You alone.  Stir my heart to be hungry for Your Word and live into the life into which You are calling me.  Grant that I may have discernment to hear Your Word.

Lord Jesus, sinner that I am, redeem me in Your Almighty power to do what is right and fitting today as Your servant.  Guide me in Your way of truth that I may walk according to the eternal principles You speak.  Help me know when a deceiver is speaking that I may not be tainted by untruth, but know more fully the truth of Your Word.  Lead me my Savior according to Your eternal Word.  Amen.

“This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.”  (1 John 2:25)

Hear the simple promise.  In Christ you will be with Him forever.  Every person should ask a simple question, “What are you living for?”  The world will have you busy living for this, that, or the other thing, but the Lord calls you to live for what is forever.  Invest in eternal things, not things that will fail.  Invest in others who can be with you and do not use others for profit here.

Lord, help me to understand how important this is that I live for what is eternal.  Help me learn through Your Word what this means.  Guide me to have the fruits of Your Spirit on this world to enable me to live according to the Word You have given.  Place in my heart the willingness to live according to the eternal principles You give that I may carry on the good work You have begun in me.

Lord, You are the author and finisher of my faith, but one day I shall stand before You and see even as I have always been fully seen.  I will know as I have been known.  Guide me in the truth of all that this means that I would walk in Your ways now as I shall always.  Place in my heart the promise and truth of eternity that this may guide me in my day to day actions, guiding what I do and why.  Amen.

“As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.”  (1 John 2:24)

All have been created in the image of God.  That image speaks to every person, for it has within it the longing to be connected to the immortal.  But it is not for us to invent what is out there, but to see that the Living God who has created us has spoken and calls for us to come to Him.  Come unto me, the Lord has said.  He is calling that all who hear and know His voice would come unto Him.

Lord, every day You speak to me.  Help me hear clearly Your voice and to come to You as You call me.  Help me to hear Your Word and stop the rebellion and live according to the eternal principles You have established.  Guide me in the way of truth that I may abide in You as You abide in me.  Lead me away from the way of sin and into the eternal truth of Your revelation.

Lord Jesus, You have come in the flesh that I may see and know.  You have spoken the Word of truth that I may hear and understand.  Lead me O Lord the way You would have me go that I may abide in Your Word and live according to the guidance You give.  Teach me this day what You would have me do and then give me the power to do what is right no matter the earthly cost.  Amen.

“Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.”  (1 John 2:23)

The Father and the Son are One.  You cannot deny one without denying the other.  Those who want eternal life on their own terms are in the rebellion which has existed from the beginning.  Turn to the Lord, see the Son, accept that He is God in the flesh and know the Father, life and eternal life.  This is the only way, for to get to God, you must go to God and seek Him as He can be sought.

Lord, the same games have been going on from the beginning.  You alone have the words of eternal life.  Help me, I pray, to see that in You alone is there hope and a glorious future.  Guide me in the way of truth which You have revealed that I may live according to Your never failing promises and walk in the way You have established.  Lead me as You alone can, that I may know the truth You have revealed.

Lord Jesus, You have made the Father known, for You and the Father are One.  Lead me in the truth of the revelation You have given that I may walk in the eternal truth You spoke into existence and has remained true from the beginning.  May I be faithful to the way You have established and grow in understanding through this faith You have given me, O Lord.  Amen.

“Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.”  (1 John 2:22)

Jesus is God in the flesh.  To deny this is to deny the truth.  Yet, think about our culture.  Everyone thinks the truth is up for debate.  God has declared and it is so.  Those who deny the truth deny God.  If they deny the truth, they are liars.  And what do they do?  They become indignant and act as if they are offended because they are lying.  Do not listen to a liar, but to the Lord who is true.

Lord, help me, I pray, to listen to Your Word of truth alone.  You alone who has all truth.  Guide me in Your way, O Lord, that I would walk according to Your statues and not be swayed by the liars of this age.  In You alone is the hope for all.

Heavenly Father, You have demonstrated Your love through Jesus Christ and the grace He gives.  Grant in the power of Your Holy Spirit that I would hold fast to the truth and not be swayed by the constant lies of this age.  Help me to see that in You alone is the hope of glory and that with You alone will I live life as it is meant to be lived.  Guide me O Lord in Your way of truth, knowing that You alone have the words of eternal life.  Amen.

“I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.”  (1 John 2:21)

This letter is written to those who believe, those who know that Jesus is God in the flesh.  They know and therefore live in the law of love, loving one another.  Those who pretend lie and do not know the truth.  When you meet someone who is lying, love them.  There is no lie in Christ , or in the truth.  God is truth and He has revealed the truth through Christ who saves us and gives us the love of God.

Lord, it may seem sometimes like a word twist, but You have made it clear that Your way is the way of truth.  Those who know You lean on You alone for understanding.  Those who love one another do not pretend, but let Your presence come out in them.  You are love and in You through the salvation You have made possible, You call all who will come through grace to Yourself.

Lord Jesus, nothing is possible without You and everything is possible through the grace You have given that we might learn how to love one another.  Help me dear Jesus to live in this love You have given me that I may hold fast to You and what You are teaching me.  Keep me from the deceiver that I would be truthful in every part of my life.  Hold me fast to Your love now and forever.  Amen.

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.”  (1 John 2:20)

To anoint, an unction, a consecration, or the call are similar in what is being described.  You were anointed in your baptism.  You have been called through the Word to Christ.  Daily, there is the reminder that what the Lord has done for you is a call to come to Him.  The One who has done this has called you by name and calls to walk with Him this day.  You know He has done this.

Lord, You have called me in many and various ways with the one call that leads me to You.  Help me move clearly and simply through the steps of this life to come to the place where I daily follow You in thought, word and deed.  Guide me through the circumstances of this life to see in You and Your Word the truth of life and to realize that I really do know what You have revealed and what Your plans are.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for never letting go.  Help me, I pray, to see that in You alone is there hope, a future, and the truth of life.  Guide me through Your never-failing principles laid out in Your Word to walk according to Your commandments.  In all that happens, grant that I would be grateful for all that You provide and live with a humble and contrite heart knowing that You are my Savior.  Amen.
