“The Lord God has opened My ear; and I was not disobedient nor did I turn back.  I gave My back to those who strike Me, and My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.”  (Isaiah 50:5-6)

“If you deny Me before men, I will deny you before My Father in heaven,” Jesus said.  To whom will you give your loyalty and devotion?  Will it be yourself?  Will it be someone or something in this world?  This is an important question that directs to focus and direction of life.  Listen to the Word of the Lord, hear what He has to say and incline your ear to the One who created all things.

Lord, I am tossed and turned in this crazy world of ongoing nonsense.  Help me to look to You, the author and finisher of all things knowing that only in You is there a true future that is forever.  Guide me in Your paths for Your name’s sake that I would walk in the right way and live according to Your Word, for You alone are the One who is able to do these things.  May I hear and rightly respond to Your eternal Word.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead as many as would heed Your Word and follow You throughout this life in preparation for eternal life.  Guide me, I pray, to see that in You alone is there hope and a future.  Guide me this day to do those things which are correct in the Father’s eyes and in accordance with Your eternal and never-changing Word.  May I learn from You how to be faithful.  Amen.

“I clothe the heavens with blackness and make sackcloth their covering.”  The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word.  He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.”  (Isaiah 50:3-4)

Being a disciple is the call of the Lord.  He has always called for those who would follow Him and learn from Him.  It is not about finding out how to overcome sin, but looking to the One who knows how to lead you from where you are to where you need to be.  Trust in the Lord and follow Him all the days of your life as He prepares you for life eternal.  The Lord has accomplished this.

Lord, I play games, dancing around, trying to live in a way I think will please You and others.  Help me move beyond myself and live according to the way You have established from the beginning.  Guide me in the way of being a disciple that I would learn how to follow, how to listen and how to live according to Your timeless and perfect will.  Guide me now and always in Your ways.

Lord Jesus, You have come in fulfillment of prophecy to lead as many as would become disciples to walk in the way You have demonstrated and established.  Guide me now and always in Your way that I would learn from You how to live and live according to the Father’s will.  May I now and always look to You Lord to guide and lead me in every circumstance.  Amen.

Thus says the Lord, “Where is the certificate of divorce by which I have sent your mother away?  Or to whom of My creditors did I sell you?  Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away.  “Why was there no man when I came?  When I called, why was there none to answer?  Is My hand so short that it cannot ransom?  Or have I no power to deliver?  Behold, I dry up the sea with My rebuke, I make the rivers a wilderness; their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst.”  (Isaiah 50:1-2)

Where is the proper role of things?  Not as the world sees them, but as the Lord has declared them?  Has He been unjust to the one who sins against Him?  Is not the Lord allowing punishment for those who do not fear Him?  Do not listen to the wicked one who accuses, but to the Lord who offers His hand of mercy.  Trust in the Lord always and know that His will shall come to pass.

Lord, You have given Your Word and declared how things will unfold.  Guide me, I pray to see that in You, living by Your Word, I can find my life’s purpose and be guided by Your never-changing principles.  Help me grow in the admonition of Your declarations and become every more like Christ my Savior.  You are the God of all and only in You can we find our hope.

Holy Spirit, You have come to comfort Your people in the promises You have given.  Although there may be times of trouble, tears and pain, joy comes in the morning.  Guide me, I pray to live through good times and bad with my eye upon Your leading, knowing that You will lead me through every circumstance toward the perfection to come.  May I learn from Your direction to be faithful in all things.  Amen.

“Surely, thus says the Lord, “Even the captives of the mighty man will be taken away, and the prey of the tyrant will be rescued; for I will contend with the one who contends with you, and I will save your sons.  I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, and they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; and all flesh will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”  (Isaiah 49:25-26)

Those who take the land by force will feed upon themselves in the end.  Over and over throughout history, the oppressor becomes the oppressed.  The Word of the Lord is sure and in every time and place, the Word of the Lord will be fulfilled.  Trust in the Lord who will bring about these things and do not fear the tyrants who prey upon the people.  This age is wicked and we must live through it until the age to come.

Lord, I am often confused, afraid and uncertain about the future, but these thoughts pertain to this world and this age.  Seasons come and seasons go, but You are there always before me, beckoning me to come with You through every circumstance.  Help me, I pray, to see that not only has Your Word been fulfilled, but that the ultimate fulfillment in this age is yet to come.

Lord Jesus, You continuously pointed forward that I might trust in the simple truth that this age must unfold according to the Father’s purpose.  Help me today and every day to look beyond temporary circumstances and see that You are creating a people who will be with You now and forever.  Help me live humbly and with faith through all that may come, trusting in Your never-failing promises.  Amen.

“Kings will be your guardians, and their princesses your nurses.  They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth and lick the dust of your feet; and you will know that I am the Lord; those who hopefully wait for Me will not be put to shame.  “Can the prey be taken from the mighty man, or the captives of a tyrant be rescued?”  (Isaiah 49:23-24)

Wait, O man, wait.  With impatience, we go through this age wanting the Lord to bring about His justice, but if He were to bring that justice, it would be the end.  For His purpose, He allows this time to pass without His full justice.  He will bring it as sure as He is God.  Lean not on your own understanding and do not hold to what you think, but trust in what the Lord has revealed and know that He will bring it to pass.

Lord, You have spoken Your eternal Word and all vengeance is Yours.  Help me, I pray, to hold fast to Your Word and await the fulfillment of the age which You have promised.  I only know in part, but You O Lord know all things.  Help me understand that trusting You must be with all I am and with all the crosses my mind, knowing that You will bring about all You have promised perfectly.

Holy Spirit, guide the thoughts of my mind and the meditation of my heart that I would focus on what You would have me do this day.  Keep me from racing ahead to how I think things should be, but instead trust Your perfect will to be accomplished that You alone would receive all honor and glory.  Guide me this day to do what is right and fitting according to Your perfect will.  Amen.

“Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has begotten these for me, since I have been bereaved of my children and am barren, an exile and a wanderer?  And who has reared these?  Behold, I was left alone; from where did these come?’”  Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations and set up My standard to the peoples; and they will bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.”  (Isaiah 49:21-22)

When all is stripped away, when there is nothing left and you are alone, what do you see?  There is the Lord.  In all things and through all things, He is the Sovereign who has always been there.  You do not need to come to the point where all is gone.  The Lord has always been there and awaits You awakening to His purpose and presence.  He has always invited You to come to Him.

Lord, help me see that You are the One who has been there.  Behind everything that happens in my life, You have created purpose and meaning.  Though I wander off as a prodigal, You await me turning to You and knowing that You alone are God.  Help me to turn and see that You have always watched my steps and will guide me along right paths.  Bring me close to You Lord God.

Lord Jesus, You have come, up front and personal.  You have come to introduce life and light and meaning to all of life.  Guide me, I pray, ever deeper into the mystery of life that You reveal that I may walk in the newness of life and its meaning that You offer.  Keep me close to You that I would hold fast to the promises You give and walk this day and every day knowing You are near.  Amen.

“For your waste and desolate places and your destroyed land – surely now you will be too cramped for the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you will be far away.  “The children of whom you were bereaved will yet say in your ears, ‘The place is too cramped for me; make room for me that I may live here.’”  (Isaiah 49:19-20)

Lord, You cause things to change that the people might move.  You bring about the seasons of the ages and cause the migrations for Your purpose.  Who are we that we would question You, but we do.  Lead us, O King Eternal, that we would rest in the promise of Your Word.  Where You lead, there is no boundary and where You establish, there is no end, for You alone are God and able to do all that You have spoken.

Lord, sometimes what You say does not yet make sense.  Help me, I pray, to trust in You and not in my ability to understand all that You speak.  Help me to grow knowing that one day You will make all things clear.  Guide me into Your never-failing promises that I may live according to Your Word which can never come back void and help me learn to be faithful as You are faithful.

Lord Jesus, You are the Word made flesh who fulfilled the promise of Scripture.  You will come again, just as Your Word has spoken it.  Guide me, I pray, to see that in You is the hope of the ages and that with You I am more than able to walk a life of faith filled with hope.  Lead me this day, my Savior and king, that I may do what is pleasing in Your sight and fulfill the Word You have for me.  Amen. .

“‘Your builders hurry; your destroyers and devastators will depart from you.  Lift up your eyes and look around; all of them gather together, they come to you.  As I live,’ declares the Lord, ‘You will surely put on all of them as jewels and bind them on as a bride.’”  (Isaiah 49:17-18)

To what are you looking?  For what do you hope?  Is your hope in this world?  Are you looking for some temporary salvation?  Look to the Lord God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.  Look to Him and see what He has in store for those who trust in Him.  Do not look to the left or the right, but ahead to Him, for He is able to deliver what He promises and will cause all things to come to pass according to His Word.

Lord God, You have spoken these things and as they come to pass, we are assured that only Your Word delivers what it promises.  Help us in every time to look to You and see the hope of eternity knowing that this world does fade and will pass away.  Guide me, I pray to look to You, Your Word and the hope You give as the guide to lead me each and every day toward the eternal future of Your promise.

Lord Jesus, You are the fulfillment of all of the prophecies.  You have come to lead Your people out of the bondage to sin and death and into the glorious kingdom of light.  Help me, I pray, to see that in You there is hope and an eternal future free from this present bondage.  Guide me ever deeper into the mysteries of the faith You have revealed that I might grow in the likeness You have portrayed.  Amen.

“Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb?  Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.  “Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.”  (Isaiah 49:15-16)

A simple comparison of the sense of responsibility we see in daily life.  A mother and her child.  Yet even this pales in comparison to the compassion, love and care our Lord has for those whom He has created.  Will He not fulfill the Word He has spoken?  The Lord is giving His Word of promise to those who will come to Him through the everlasting covenant He has established.

Lord, You have given Your promise for those who will return to You.  You write the names of those who are yours on Your hand.  Help me see the great love You have for those whom You have called through the grace You have provided that I would follow the path of grace You have created and follow You all the days of my life.  Guide me O Lord in Your ways and help me learn faithfulness.

Lord Jesus, You have come to pave the way for as many as would follow You out of this world of sin and death, preparing us for the world to come.  Lead me this day in the strength of Your might and help me to become the person You have already intended.  May I learn from You and be humble and gentle and take on this day as it comes knowing that You are with me every step of the way.  Amen.

“Shout for joy, O heavens! And rejoice, O earth!  Break forth into joyful shouting, O mountains!  For the Lord has comforted His people and will have compassion on His afflicted.  But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.”  (Isaiah 49:13-14)

Yes, the Lord has come, but there are those who say, “Where is He?”  The Lord is not slow as some count slowness, but awaits the fulfillment of time for all who will come to Him in faith.  Rejoice that the Lord has and is accomplishing all that He promised.  In Him are the peoples fulfilled and in Him alone is there eternal hope.  Know that He will accomplish all that He has purposed.

Lord, You have given Your Word and we see it unfolding just as You have spoken it.  Guide me, O Lord, to live by faith knowing that Your Word will never come back void.  Help me in every time of doubt to trust in what You have spoken, knowing that You alone are able to accomplish all that You have purposed.  Keep me close to You O Lord that I would not stray, but stand firm in Your Word of truth.

Dear Savior, You have come to lead the way for as many as would follow You out of the bondage to sin and death and into the everlasting freedom that comes to those who wait upon You.  Lead me this day to hold fast to the promises You have given knowing that in You alone will I find all that I seek and know the truth that You alone are Lord.  May I be found firmly in You this day O Lord.  Amen.
