“Yet you said, ‘I will be a queen forever.’  These things you did not consider nor remember the outcome of them.  “Now, then, hear this, you sensual one, who dwells securely, who says in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one besides me.  I will not sit as a widow, nor know loss of children.’”  (Isaiah 47:7-8)

The arrogance of sinful humanity that believes they are immortal.  All fall to what sin has done – death.  No one is exempt and those who rail against the Lord will be humbled.  Do not say in your heart that You will be like the most high.  This is what the devil did and the world has been thrown into turmoil, compounded by those who adopt the devil’s arrogance.  Submit to the Lord who is Lord of all.

Lord, this is Your creation.  You have fashioned it according to Your purpose and in Your will.  Guide me, I pray, away from the arrogance of this world and into the humble submission to Your will and Your way.  Keep me from the wiles of the wicked one and help me learn from You, for You are gentle and humble and full of compassion on those who turn to You in every time of need.

Thank You Jesus for demonstrating the compassion of Your heart for the ages.  You have come that as many as come to You would find the rest they seek.  Hold me fast to Your will and Your way that I would walk humbly with You, my Lord and my God.  Guide me throughout this day that I would hold fast to the eternal principles You have spoken from long ago.  May I learn from You to be faithful.  Amen.

“Sit silently, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans, for you will no longer be called the queen of kingdoms.  “I was angry with My people, I profaned My heritage and gave them into your hand.  You did not show mercy to them, on the aged you made your yoke very heavy.”  (Isaiah 47:5-6)

Those who once were proud and held themselves above others without mercy will be brought low.  Those who think themselves superior will discover that all are at the same level with the Lord.  He comes to rescue those who turn to Him and lift up those who are under oppression.  Turn to the Lord who is able to do these things and know the God who created all things.

Lord, I sometimes languish in unbelief because things are not moving at the pace I want.  Help me see that all things are in Your hands and that You are moving them as You are moving them for Your purpose.  Your ways are not our ways, but You will accomplish what You purpose.  Take me from unbelief to belief that I may know in my heart that all You promise will come to pass.

Lord Jesus, many hoped You would establish Your kingdom on earth and drive out the Romans, but You have come to establish an everlasting and perfect kingdom.  You have called me into Your presence and offered me Your hand to lead me on the journey I need to make to be with You.  Help me this day to walk in the footsteps You would have me walk that I may learn faithfulness.  Amen.

“Your nakedness will be uncovered, your shame also will be exposed; I will take vengeance and will not spare a man.”  Our Redeemer, the Lord of hosts is His name, the Holy One of Israel.”  (Isaiah 47:3-4)

The Lord will reveal all that is now covered.  Those who do their deeds in darkness have only the night, but the day is coming when all that is now hidden will be known.  Trust in the One who has promised to uncover all the wickedness of this age and replace it with His never failing righteousness which comes through Christ.  May the Lord, the Holy One of Israel be in and with You now and always.

Lord God of all Creation, You have come that we might have light and life and have it abundantly.  Guide me I pray to turn to You in every time of need knowing that in You alone is there an eternal future of glory.  Help me see in You the hope of every generation and no matter what may come, live in this life You have given me in faith through grace that I would abide in You.

Abide in me Lord Christ that I may grow in Your likeness, turning to You for all things and in all things knowing that You have promised to conform me to Your goodness.  May I now and always live in the hope You give, seeking the counsel of Your Word and living according to the promise of that Word for eternity.  Guide me today Lord Jesus to live in You as You live in me.  Amen.

“Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans!  For you shall no longer be called tender and delicate.  Take the millstones and grind meal.  Remove your veil, strip off the skirt, uncover the leg, cross the rivers.”  (Isaiah 47:1-2)

How theworld loves to seduce us and lull us into thinking that peace is finally ours.  There has never been peace because the world is hostile to the Lord.  Times and seasons come and go and the ways of the wicked scheme to bring about yet another round of wickedness.  Only in the promise of the Lord is there the peace that surpasses all understanding.  Only in the Lord is there a future.

Lord, there is nothing new under the sun.  Clothing and names change but it is the same wickedness that lingers upon the land.  Help me see that only in You is there hope and a future.  Guide me ever deeper into the mystery of the faith You have revealed through Christ that I would build my life upon that which lasts and not upon the seductions of this fleeting and failing world.

Lord Jesus, You have come to call out as many as would follow You into the light of the eternal reality You have revealed.  Guide me, I pray, to live according to Your never-failing truth which You have revealed all along and culminating in Your presence amongst those who believe.  Guide me this day to walk according to the light You have shown that I may live in the righteousness You give.  Amen.

“I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off; and My salvation will not delay.  And I will grant salvation in Zion, and My glory for Israel.” (Isaiah 46:13)

Salvation is not a complex difficult journey, but one that is close and available for anyone who will turn to the Lord.  Again and again, the Lord calls out to all who will listen to come to Him and He will grant through faith the righteousness that leads to salvation.  The Lord is Lord of all and will accomplish what He has purposed.  Trust in the Lord and know that salvation He offers.

Lord, like many before, this world is filled with many answers to many questions.  Increasingly they seem to say the same thing, “Anywhere and anyone but You.”  Help me see that the rebellion of humanity continues and the offer You give for those who come to You remains the same.  Help me live into this faith You have given me that I may grow in the righteousness You give by faith.

Lord Jesus, You have come that all who call upon You will be saved.  Guide me today to live the life to which You have called me, that I may grow in that faith and live according to the purposes You set from the beginning.  Lead me to give glory to the Father and know that in You alone is there hope and a future.  May I be faithful in this gift You have given, living according to Your will in the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

“Calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of My purpose from a far country.  Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass.  I have planned it, surely I will do it.  Listen to Me, you stubborn-minded, who are far from righteousness.” (Isaiah 46:11-12)

The Lord uses whom He uses and for His purposes.  The man from the east is called a terrorist by the world.  He was.  Yet, the Lord uses whom He will to fulfill the plans He has made and allows to happen what needs to happen for the sake of His eternal plan.  We cannot know, nor can we see what the Lord sees, for this is His creation.  Listen and do not be stubborn-minded.

Lord, strip from me my stubborn-mindedness and bring me into the righteousness that only faith can bring.  Guide me ever farther away from the illusions of this world and into the reality and truth You have revealed.  Help me not to stumble over the prognostications of those who do not want to believe, but instead hold fast to the never-failing truth You have revealed for the ages.

Lord Jesus, You are the One who has made righteousness possible through the grace You have purchased from the cross.  Lift me up that I may die to this world of deceit and then resurrect me that I may live in the righteousness You alone give.  Guide me to live according to Your purposes and in the Father’s will no matter what may happen around me knowing that in You alone is there hope and a righteous future.  Amen.

“Remember the former things long past, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure’” (Isaiah 46:9-10)

Remember.  The Lord tells us to look and see.  Do not believe the devil who tells us one thing and then another until we believe the lie.  Believe the Lord who, from the beginning has told us who He is and what He has done.  Look at history and see that the Lord speaks of the rise and fall of the nations.  Know that in the Lord alone there is truth, hope and an eternal future.

Lord, I listen to those who do not believe around me and I see that slowly I have been confused by their constant hammering with untruth to lead me to not know what to believe.  Strip that away and give me eyes to look and see.  Help me to remember that with clarity I would know that You are God and there never has been, nor never will be any other.  May I live in the good pleasure You have established.

Lord Jesus, You have come to reveal to us the ability to see as You lead us out of this confused world that does not remember, nor listen as You speak.  Help me now and always to never be afraid of the truth, but to walk boldly with You as You lead, knowing that in Your coming to us, You have revealed the path of remembering and knowing.  Help me celebrate Your glorious appearance and look forward to Your coming again.  Amen.

“They lift it upon the shoulder and carry it; they set it in its place and it stands there.  It does not move from its place.  Though one may cry to it, it cannot answer; it cannot deliver him from his distress.  Remember this, and be assured; recall it to mind, you transgressors.” (Isaiah 46:7-8)

The Lord is not on a hill, in a building, contained by anything made by human hands.  The Lord is Sovereign over heaven and earth.  Yes, see the beauty of those things which point to the Lord, but never mistake them for the Lord Himself.  Be guided by the truth that it is He who made us and not we ourselves.  Know that the Lord calls for us to move away from the pagan idolatry and live forever in His presence.

Lord, You have called me by name through the waters of baptism to be forever untied with You.  First, through your death on the cross, but then through a resurrection like Christ’s.  Unite me now and forever to be in Your will that I would not do as those in this world who are forever creating gods after their own image, but instead as one who knows that You are the Almighty and Everlasting God.

Lord God in Trinity, You have revealed through Your Word the everlasting and eternal truth that we, Your created, are called to come unto You and live in accordance with Your unchanging Word.  Help me live life today in truth that I am now and always in Your presence, being thankful that You have called me as one of Your own.  May I bring glory this day to You in all I say and do.  Amen.

“To whom would you liken Me and make Me equal and compare Me, that we would be alike?  Those who lavish gold from the purse and weigh silver on the scale hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god; they bow down, indeed they worship it.” (Isaiah 46:5-6)

Why do you need an image to try and capture who the Creator of all things with a mere created thing?  We do that, trying to make sense out of the eternal and glorious God who is the One through whom all things have their being.  No one can compare to God, so live in the reality that God is God and created you in His image.  Live in that image and walk with the Lord, worshiping Him with all your being.

Lord, I find that I often live as though you are an addition to my life rather than the center of it.  I give you a small place and then expect great things.  Help me stop the image making and simply live in the truth that You are God and that there is no other.  Help me worship You with my life and all of my being.  Guide me ever deeper in this gift of faith You have given, trusting You for all things.

Thank You Lord Jesus for coming in the flesh and revealing the glory of the Father.  Help me now and always to trust in what You are doing and the work You are doing in me and in others.  May I be guided today in the Holy Spirit, listening and obeying to do what You would have me do.  May I bring glory to the Father today, trusting that Your grace is working through my life according to the Father’s will.  Amen.

“Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you who have been borne by Me from birth and have been carried from the womb; even to your old age I will be the same, and even to your graying years I will bear you!  I have done it, and I will carry you; and I will bear you and I will deliver you.(Isaiah 46:3-4)

The Lord never changes.  Though the world around us seems to change (while really remaining the same), the Lord is as He has always been.  He walks with us and calls for us to walk with Him.  His principles are from everlasting and He calls for us to walk humbly with Him.  Laying down the implements of rebellion and seeking the Lord while He may be found is the call of the Savior to those who are being saved.

Lord, You have revealed from the beginning the truth of the ages and all any of us need to do is simply come to You and taste and see that You are good.  Help me, I pray to not fall into the habit of leaning on my own understanding, but to live according to the purpose for which You have called me.  Guide me according to Your Word to listen and obey that I may know that Your Word is always true.

Thank You my Savior for guiding me into the Word of Truth You have revealed.  Lead me today that I may walk according to Your purposes and live by the unchanging standard You have declared from ancient times.  May I walk humbly with You throughout this day and look to You as my guide and stay, knowing that You will gently lead me according to Your will and in accordance with Your principles.  Amen.
