“For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?”  (Romans 11:31)

For all who believe, there is life regardless their position in life.  The simple truth is that Jesus came into the world to save as many as would believe.  Although the descendants of Abraham initially rejected the Gospel, yet there are those from every tribe, tongue and nation who have accepted the truth that Christ revealed.  Bottom line: are you one who has accepted the truth that Christ alone is the Savior of all who believe?

Lord, the mystery of people’s behavior is often puzzling.  Wrapped up in grand ideas, I forget to ask and find the answer for simple questions.  Help me, I pray, to turn to You first, know that You are Lord and then pursue what is right, seeking understanding of the greater things.  Help me know that only You, who are Lord of all, can reveal all truth and mystery.

Lord, help me do my part today by following You as You lead me through this day.  Guide me in Your truth knowing there are those who ought to believe, but won’t – or at least who do not yet believe.  Guide me to do my part knowing that all things are in Your hands.  May I hold fast to the truth You have given me and do what You give me to do, trusting You above all things.  Amen.

“But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them.”  (Romans 11:13, 14)

We are all in this walk of faith together.  Once in the Lord, all are called to work for the prize of salvation not only for ourselves, but for one another – all those whom the Lord has chosen.  We are to view ourselves as Christians as neither Greek, nor Jews, slave, nor free, male, nor female.  We are in Christ and He is in us.  We should love those closest to us enough to want them to know Christ.

Lord, the world is filled with hate and the devil wants us to separate ourselves one from the other.  You have taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who hate us.  It is hard in a world that promotes division.  Help me learn from You how to do what You want me to do.  Guide me to see the world through Your eyes that I might be faithful in living out the promise You offer.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for dying for the whole world.  Help me, I pray, to learn to love as You love.  Guide me beyond my prejudices to reach out in love to all that they may have the opportunity to be eternally united with You.  In all I do this day, step by step, lead me to love and not give in to hate.  Help me equally reach out to all that Your Gospel may be alive in me.  Amen.

“Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be!”  (Romans 11:12)

Followers of Christ are to always be open to whomever the Lord would bring into His fold.  It matters not who they are, for the gifts and callings of the Lord are irrevokable.  The Lord delights in the salvation of one.  The world is wicked and there are those who would exclude whom God includes, so we are to listen to the Lord and not to the darkness of this world.

Lord, I do find I am prejudice and would exclude one person or group, but thankfully Your grace is greater than my sinful inclinations.  Help me overcome those things which are not right for me to think that I would put on the mind of Christ and live into the grace you give, offering it freely to all whom I meet.  Help me be Your emissary in the world knowing that all those who are Yours will come into the kingdom.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You sent those who preached to me.  Help me see clearly that this is how You work.  Guide me in the work You give me that I would live according to Your purposes this day, knowing that You are working all things together for good for those who love You.  May I be Your instrument reaching out to all people today with the opportunity of Your Gospel.  Amen.

“I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.”  (Romans 11:11)

What God gives, He gives as a gift not to cause us to stumble, but to grow in our relationship with Him.  Those who think the gift is supposed to be theirs (not knowing that God gives and there is more than enough for all) react with jealousy.  If by being drawn closer to look, the gift becomes theirs, how much more is the kingdom grown?  God indeed works all things together for good.

Lord, I am unable to comprehend the full mystery of what You have accomplished and are accomplishing.  Help me not get bogged down in trying to figure things out, but instead, focus on growing in this faith You have given me.  Guide the thoughts of my mind and the meditation of my heart that I would live in the faith You give regardless the reaction of those around me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for coming and offering the gift of salvation to all.  Help me today to live in the faith You give knowing that You are working toward that final day when all things will be brought into subjection and laid at the Father’s feet.  May I live fully in Your will this day, willingly doing what You give me to do, heading toward that day when all will be complete.  Amen.

“Let their eyes be darkened to see not, And bend their backs forever.”  (Romans 11:10)

In the mystery of why some see and some do not, it is difficult to understand, yet there are moments of understanding.  Those who continue their rebellion against God simply want what they want, regardless of reality.  This we see often in our world.  Be not as one who insists on your own way, but follow after the One who has created the straight and narrow way.

Lord, I hear many ideas that conflict and confuse.  Help me to see the simple truth and follow Your way of righteousness.  Guide me in thought, word and deed that I may live according to Your Word of life.  Help me in all situations that I may be faithful to You and not follow after ideas of my own making.  Help me in every circumstance to see what is right and true.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for leading the way for all who would  follow You away from the places of darkness, toil and frustration and into Your kingdom of righteousness.  Help me this day to keep my eyes clear and on You so that I may follow You as You lead.  Help me understand that in You alone will I find the hope and future that I desire.  Then help me to remain with You all the days of my life.  Amen.

Wednesday, March 26, 2014, Devotion

And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.”  (Romans 11:9)

What we sow, so shall we reap.  If we serve the Lord, we sow fruits of righteousness.  If we serve our own ideas, those become the snare that forever keeps us from the Lord.  Many stumble over their own ideas and think that others must conform to their ideas about God.  The Lord has given us His Word that we might be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Almighty Lord and Master, it is often so difficult in the light of so many ideas being bantered around to know what to think.  Help me see the simple truth that Your Word speaks what is reality and that the rebellion of sin causes many to live in their own ideas and thoughts, making false gods out of them.  Help me to not stumble, but follow You as you lead me in truth.

Thank You, Lord, for rescuing me from the way of nothingness by leading me into truth.  Help me live in You alone and not seek after all of the false gods that are continuously being lifted up in this day.  May I learn to follow Your way of truth and life knowing that all other ways are a trap and a snare.  Guide me this day, O Lord, that I may be faithful to You.  Amen.

Tuesday, March 25, 2014, Devotion

Just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, Eyes to see not and ears to hear not, Down to this very day.”  (Romans 11:8)

Sadly, there are those who not only do not trust the report of the Lord, but have changed the report to meet their own idea of what they want God to be.  In other words, they have created a false idol of their own imagination and have lived a life worshiping the false idol.  Such religious folk live in a religious stupor not knowing the Almighty God of Creation who has revealed Himself in Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Lord, it is sad, but let me not be counted among those who do not live by faith.  Guide me in Your way of truth that I would live according to Your Word and not by what I want Your Word to say.  Help me be faithful in this calling You have given me that I would press on, seeking truth and living according to every Word that proceeds forth from Your mouth.

Help me today to live by faith, knowing that in You alone and according to Your Word alone will I be fulfilled according to Your Word.  In all I do this day, guide me to lean on You and not upon my own understanding that I may be faith-filled and faithful to this calling You have given me.  May I be Your instrument in the world today knowing that You alone are able to accomplish what You have purposed.  Amen.

Monday, March 24, 2014, Devotion

“What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened” (Romans 11:7)

Those who live by faith, live by faith.  All of the rest have hardened hearts that go on thinking they are right, doing what they think is pleasing in the Lord’s eyes and not obeying the Lord’s call to live by faith.  Lay down your life, trust the Lord and watch Him pick it up and direct you in the way of righteousness.  This is the way of salvation.  It’s not about being right, but about being righteous according to His work.

Lord, it sounds so simple, but I watch as so many make it so complex.  Help me to see the world through Your eyes that I would live as You would have me live, doing what You give me to do knowing that all things now and forever are in Your hand.  Where there is hardness in my heart, remove it.  Where there is a lack of belief, grant that I may believe and trust in You alone.

Guide me this day O Lord that I would live according to Your promises.  Help me to live faithful in the grace You have given me, knowing I can do nothing meaningful and lasting without You.  In all I do this day, may it be for Your glory and according to Your will.  Help me in the power of Your Holy Spirit to be a faithful follower in Christ for Your sake.  Amen.

Sunday, March 23, 2014, Devotion

“But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.”  (Romans 11:6)

We are saved by what God does, not by what we do.  If we have part of it, then it is no longer God who is doing it, but us.  Although this is very simple, it is the most perplexing for humans to live.  Trust God and He does what He promised.  Although our behavior will reflect what is truth in us, yet it is not we, but He who is doing the work.  All the posturing is simple human sinfulness that has always gotten in the way of the Lord’s work.

Father, help me understand that it is not by my work, though You have created me for a specific purpose with work to do, but by what You have purposed from the beginning.  Help me live in this faith You have given, being conformed into the image of the only begotten Son that I may show myself approved because of what You have done.  Teach me to live by faith and not by works.

Thank You Lord for giving salvation to all who believe.  Grant this day that I would live by the faith You give and not live according to what I think I should do.  Guide me by Your Holy Spirit to live into the promises You give knowing that You alone are able to accomplish what You purpose.  May I learn to be faithful to Your guidance today and every day.  Amen.
