But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I am speaking in human terms.)” (Romans 3:5)

Tell someone that without knowing Jesus they are going to hell and you will see how this very verse is denied.  Yet, if the one’s who are in rebellion against the Lord still want to be as God in heaven, what would heaven be like?  In a very simple way, we can understand that the righteousness of God must be true if there is to be sanity in eternity.  God is righteous and just.Lord, I get caught up in the earthy arguments that have elements of truth, but always have that little bit of untruth that makes the whole thing nonsense.  Help me to see that only You are righteous and just and that Your law is good.  Help me to understand that Christ died for a reason and that listening to You provides the only hope for a sinful humanity.

Lord Jesus, You paid the price for sin for a reason.  Help me to understand that apart from You there is no hope and that in You, there is nothing but hope.  Guide me today to be loving, but committed to the truth that in You alone is there a hope and a future.  Guide my lips to speak boldly of the saving Gospel You have made possible through grace.  Amen.

“May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”  (Romans 3:4)

The simple truth is that God speaks truth. If He wanted something else said, then we would be reading something else. He has caused the Word He chose to be passed along as we have received it that, by faith, we would come to know that God is always faithful and will fulfill every promise He has made.

Lord, my head gets spun around by those who use meaningless speculation to confuse everything. We know that You are not the author of confusion – the devil is. Help me to simply accept that You have spoken and Your Word has been given as You have intended it to be given. Rather than getting caught up in the incessant arguments, help me to get caught up in Your Word.

Lord, You are true. Help me today to live fully in the truth You have already revealed knowing that Your Word is truth. Not worrying even where it came from (other than knowing it is from You), or how it got here, help me to live by the precepts You have given and the abundant grace I need in order to live a life of faith trusting You always in the Word You have given. Amen.

“What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?”  (Romans 3:3)

God uses whom He will to transmit the Gospel. Whether the one who transmits it believes or not is never the question. God will use whom God will use. We are to see the veracity of the Gospel itself and not all the nonsense that would dance around the simple truth that God has given us the Words for eternal life. God is faithful.

Lord, I listen to those who hate Your Word attempt to shred it by complaining about how it has come down, where it has been found and whatever else they will use to criticize Your Word. Take me to Your Word itself that I may see by the power of the Holy Spirit the gift that You have given. Rather than joining in with the ignorant nonsense that is lifted up as intellectual in this age, help me to simply read and believe Your Word.

Thank You Word Incarnate that You have come to reveal for those who would believe the truth for eternity. Help me to hold fast to the truth You have revealed that I would listen to Your voice and be among the faithful who give to others the gift of truth that You first gave. May I be a faithful defender of the faith this day and not get caught up in the devilish nonsense of this world. Amen.

“Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.”  (Romans 3:2)

We would not have Scripture if it had not been faithfully preserved and passed along. Regardless of what we may personally think of those who have gone before, we must always be thankful for those who made our ability to hear, read and understand the Gospel through the Word which has been given us. Rather than hating anyone, we should be thankful for the faithfulness of others.

Lord, I get caught up in the devilishness that has plagued every generation thinking myself better than they because I think I know more. I do not. Help me to have a thankful heart that is thankful for all of the faithful people of every generation who have made the blessings I experience possible. Guide me to respect those who passed along Your oracles and keep me in that tradition that I may pass along what You have entrusted to me.

Lord, guide me into Your Word today that I would actually read for myself what has been preserved over the millennia. Help me to learn to be faithful in passing to others what has been given to me. You placed that heart in Abraham, that He would pass the faith to those who came after him. Place that same spirit in me that I would gladly pass along the Gospel to others. Amen.

“Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?”  (Romans 3:1)

One who practices the law at least understands the merits of doing things the right way. Right is right and wrong is wrong. One who understands this is at least a bit ahead of the one who does not realize that the order that God has placed upon the universe is true and everlasting. Although one can rely on their own supposed merit (which is no merit at all), at least they are pointed in the right direction.

Lord, I do things the right way, but I know that there are many times when I do not do things the right way. Help me first and foremost to realize that Your law is good in every way. However, keep me from ever thinking that what I do comes even close to what Christ has done in providing the grace I desperately need for all the times when it is close, knowing that close is never close enough for Your perfect standards.

Thank You Jesus for those who passed along the law that I might know the truth of the order that was placed upon the universe from the beginning. Help me to seek the good today in all I say and do, knowing that I must, at all times, rely upon You for all the good I will not do this day. Guide me by grace to increase in goodness and decrease the reliance upon Your grace to sustain me. Amen.

“But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.”  (Romans 2:29)

It does not matter what you, or anyone else thinks, but what does matter is what God knows. Christ is the heart donor that came to give you His heart that you would have a new heart stripped of all of the pollution of sin. Either you take His heart and live, or else – and in spite of all your gesticulations – you remain dead and bound for hell. The faithful should seek for one thing, and that is to hear from the Savior, “Well done, good and faithful slave.”

Lord, you have come that I might have Your heart. I resist and reject Your heart throughout the day. Give me grace that I would not reject what You are giving me. Keep me close to You that I would not play games with You, others, or myself. Help me to learn to be true in faith and hold fast to Your Word, for You have given me the Word of eternal life.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the patience You have shown for all of the saints. Keep me on the path of faith this day that I would not be as concerned with outward things as with the things of the heart, knowing that in You alone will I find hope and a future. May I be faithful to the call You have given me today, knowing that by being faithful to You I will be a witness for others. Amen.

“For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.”  (Romans 2:28)

A Christian is not someone who says they are Christian, nor is someone whom we say has faith because of what they may say on any particular day. Faith is not something that is an outward sign of allegiance, but a truth of where the heart is. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The signs we accept and make are idolatry unless they are sign of what is real from the inside out.

Lord, I treasure so many things on this earth. That’s not all bad, but often I find that I treasure them more than You. I am so worried about what others think and often I do not care what You think. Correct me Lord, that I may love You above all things. Take my faith inward that it not be something I wear, but the heart of who I am. Help me live by faith and not by sight.

Dear Lord, You know me and where I am going. You know the days of my life. Guide me through these days that I may be, from the inside out, wholly Yours. Keep me in Your truth and let me be a genuine witness of Your love and grace. Guide me to be faithful today and every day for Your name’s sake and keep me on the path of being genuine in faith. Amen.

“And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law? “ (Romans 2:27)

Those who cling to their own idea of righteousness will be judged against the perfect example: Christ. Even those who do not know the law, but practice it, are in a better position than those who have heard the law, but pick and choose what they will and will not practice. It is all, or nothing. The Lord did not come to make us feel good, but to make us the image of Christ who is good.

Lord, I do often live in my own idea of things and walk according to the ways of this world while

saying that I am Your faithful follower. Remove the hypocrisy and difference that I may truly follow You all the day long and live according to Your Word. Guide me into Your righteousness and help me to remain under the shadow of Your wing.

How majestic is Your name O Lord, You who have saved those whom You have chosen. Grant this day that I would walk with an uncircumcised heart, humble and faithful to Your command. Guide me to be an example while on the earth this day, showing Your presence in my life while living according to Your purpose. May I be led in faithful in the power of You Holy Spirit today according to thy Word. Amen.

“So if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?”  (Romans 2:26)

It is not what is done outwardly that matters. I have witnessed that most I meet are very good at outwardly displaying a behavior they think is acceptable within the current circumstance. The Lord will give to all who are saved a new heart that practices righteousness. The Lord is uninterested in appearance, but always lives in reality. One who does the law does all of the law. One who one partially practices the law, breaks the whole of the law. This is why it is all of your heart, soul and mind needs to be replaced with what Jesus does in salvation.

Lord, you know who I am on the inside and that I am weak. Help me to become strong in Your ways, able to resist sin and live according to what is right. Keep me from being proud and teach me humility. Guide me in Your ways that I would be the person You created me to be. Help me love your laws and statutes and walk in Your ways all the days of my life.

O Lord, without You I would perish. Your law is often a burden, not because You have made it this way, but because I have through sin. Take the burden from me and put on me the cloak of Your righteousness and carry the cross that You give me. Help me to learn faithfulness from You and always walk with You leading the way. Amen.

“For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.”  (Romans 2:25)

A mark of the cross on your forehead is a reminder of what Christ has done for you. If you cling to that mark as an excuse, blaspheming the Lord, murdering those around you whom He is calling, it is idolatry. Do not cling to your markers, cling to the One that gives you the mark. Your hope is not in what you want, but in the One who makes all things happen. The sign is just that, a sign. The sign does not save you (and all who cling to signs are doing nothing less than making idols). The sign points to Jesus who saves all from the cross.

Lord, help me to see that it is what is in the heart that really matters. Thank you for the signs You have given, but help me not to cling to the sings, but to You. Guide my thoughts away from the wickedness of this world and toward the hope of salvation You have already given in Your grace. May I grow into the person You have always intended that I be.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for dying for all of my sins, both known and unknown. Help me today to have a clear conscience and boldly let others know that I follow You, not just by the signs I display, but in the truth of a life lived for the cause of Your Gospel. Keep me close to You that I would not stray and fall prey to the temptations of the devil. Amen.
